Vols. 1-3

by Let Man Loose

/
  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

    Introducing our 'Vols. 1-3' LP.

Pressed onto smouldering transparent red wax, the music has been mastered exclusively for vinyl, resulting in a cleaner and more dynamic sound.

This is the ultimate Let Man Loose experience.

'Vols. 1-3' is a celebration of the music we recorded between 2017-2019, compiling all tracks from our trilogy of EP releases and featuring brand new tracks 'Victory Lap', 'The Acid Test' and a re-recorded 'Sweet Spot' from our 'Vol. 3' EP.

The record is housed in a litho printed matte sleeve, featuring striking artwork designed by Francis Scott and influenced by bold retro newspaper advertisements - the slogans taking cues from the song lyrics.

The pressing is a limited edition of 250, the first 50 of which have been signed by the original band line-up of Marc, Daniel, Jamie and Sam.

Includes unlimited streaming of Vols. 1-3 via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

1.
I've been heat-seeking and you're scorching / I'm the dark horse travelling at the speed of light so I can sneak into your heart while the padlock's off // And I struck gold when I got hold of you - when you jumped on board and we went for a victory lap // I feel knees weaken and I'm top scoring / Out of nowhere you go and get the timing right and then you sweep me off my feet and blow my socks off //
2.
Sweet Spot 02:52
Cardiac fractures and crying hailstone / You've got enough on your plate but don't make a meal of it / Sweet tooth turned black and now there's a hole / I ought to get myself into shape but today I'm not feeling it // 'cause I'm alright here for the moment as high up as I can be in the sweet spot // Shifts from chit chat to copycat heroics / I'm supposed to learn from mistakes but can't help repeating it // And I'm alright here for the moment as high up as I can be and with a sweet secretion in my blood stream the ache depletes and lifts a ton and I'm alright //
3.
It only takes a swipe to wipe the slate clean / Blue bubbles inbound and replies in double time / You look like you were born to adorn the lock screen and you're the perfect height to pucker up and shut me up // Display my characters in cases / Perfected imagery is cast / Only the best side of my faces reflected through the two way glass // Do you board the hype train to guarantee you are seen? Submit the most enhanced for a better chance at the prize / The winner's never drawn / I could've sworn I've already been but if it’s worth a like then who am I scrutinise? // Display your characters in cases / Perfected imagery is cast / Only the best side of your faces reflected through the two way glass // Advertising your knack for capturing the lighting / Fingertip tap dancing to get everything right / Disguising a real lack of anything exciting / Shutterbugs advancing to take another bite // Capture your characters in cages / Perfected imagery is cast / Only the best side of your faces reflected through the two way glass //
4.
Queen Bee 03:00
Tonight’s neighbours are pretty loud / I wish we were being louder / I do believe we fell into the routine trap / We’ve got a way to go to get there // Queen bee stung me like a shot in the arm / Queen bee sprung a little surprise // You can face your demons or invite them in and show them around and let them fool around with your routine machine / Forever was never the problem //
5.
First time I hit that polka dot jackpot we slotted like puzzle pieces of some idyllic jigsaw scattered on the floor / Gold mine of all your smoking hot snapshots / From onslaught to sudden ceasefire / It seems I drew the short straw and won't be getting any more // And now you're somebody's plaything / Try and tell me it's the same and before you lose all faith in just how well you play this game // All lined up to find the key to that treasured chest and you’re leaving the bar in a taxi to reach, tussle and grasp for zip, buckle and clasp / You’ll find I can be quite a pleasant guest and I’ll leave you to stew on your actions and not contaminate the crime scene / Dunno where you’ve been // At close quarters we were something / Try and tell me it's the same and if you thought I had it coming it's just as well you'd fan the flames //
6.
Those butterflies haven't stretched their wings for a while / A forearm's leopard print bow comes untied and I guess we can't change our spots / Behavioural patterns extinguishing lanterns and here I am trying to join up the dots / The loosening of stitches not sewn for some time removes a finger's ornamental silver outline and that's the slipping of the safety knot / Engraved initials no longer official and the gates to memory lane are padlocked // You're the ghost on the settee / You're the devil in the details / You're the felling of the tree / You're the wind out of the sails / It doesn't matter what you're doing for you won't be this man's ruin // Touch screen transmissions postponed and sidelined / It's not easy to refrain from that pastime and as I'm trying to keep up the boycott you ask if you're deplorable / It's certainly plausible and I ought not to say so but no you're not // You're a hole in the head / You're the bend before the break / You're the space in the bed / You're the thud before the ache / It doesn't matter what you're doing for you won't be this man's ruin //
7.
Something stuck in my eye but I ain't crying / Something stuck in my throat / Now is not the time / You don't need to know but... / Revelations / Look me in the eye / I'm really trying / Battle stations for a shit show / Now is not the time / You don't need to know but tell me... // Are there spare pages in your good books? I wanna fill them with fiction / Sit and listen to my latest tale / It's the story of the coffin's final nail //

9.
Bulldog 03:40
Bulldog's feeding on strawberries and cream now he's got a taste for the national dream / He’s gone barking mad as we feared / I wanna reason with him but things have gotten weird // The dying breed is not up to speed / There's typewritten tripe up the walls / His pedigree don't mean much to me / Once bitten twice shy // Bulldog's reeling 'cause I'm not on his team and I found flaws in his irrational scheme / So he howls and he howls and he howls and he howls / Try and reason with him and it falls on deaf ears // Bulldog's crazy now / Someone intervene / He insists on getting everywhere powered by steam / He's gone barking mad as we feared / I wanna reason with him but things have gotten weird //
10.
Are you running low on rocket fuel after our little trip to the moon and back? / Did the return to terra firma serve only to hit you with reality's brutal slap? / I may not manage to find the tools if your screws come loose and your heartstrings snap but if you duck into the rabbit hole I’ll stop by and pluck you out of that thinking trap // And when you cut a gloomy figure like that remind you that we're all trying to get the code cracked and you're right where you need to be to pass the acid test // I know it's harder to keep your cool when the clouds gang up until it's overcast but I'll be making sure the sky don’t fall so sit tight if you've been thinking about making tracks // And when you cut a gloomy figure like that remind you that none of us have got the code cracked and you're right where you need to be to pass the acid test //
11.
You might not be everybody's cup of tea but you were sweet enough for me but we got tired of the crossed wires getting tangled // Like a fun house mirror you skewed my reflection and it turns out 'cause I checked that I'm not all that bad // I guess I've found I'm not where I ought to be / Sometimes we all find ourselves out of sync / Don't think I won't be back // And if I end up on the receiving end then I'm sure I'll come out on top / I won't blink / I won't sink to your level //
12.
I Warned You 04:46
Treat it carefully / It's too far to throw it but you threw it anyway / Treading warily / You're too close for comfort but you got closer // I warned you // Stockpiling the debris with too many fragments to glue / Do it anyway / Her doing the lion's share was still not enough to satisfy you / I told you so // Ousted early and with the triumphs up for review on your résumé / From clued up and well prepared to chewed up and spat to the back of the queue / Not closer // It's time to face the music / It's time to go home //
